You can catch the debut "moment with Mike" this morning @ 8:10am on Shore 104.3 FM
It appears that my CityCaucus.com colleague Mike Klassen is adding yet another piece to his expanding repertoire of media appearances. Mike will be contributing to the Mornings on the Shore show on Shore 104 FM, hosted by Steve Dunbar and Colleen Brow. His debut commentary runs at 8:10am today (Friday), at 104.3 FM.
Mike and Steve go back to when both worked at CFOX in the mid '80s. Dunbar, who originally hails from Victoria, has worked on-air for The Fox, then CFMI for several years and now co-hosts mornings at The Shore.
Mike did college radio at CITR UBC, and began his writing career with the station's Discorder alternative publication. He was a regularly featured guest on Coast 1040's morning show in the early '90s with legendary host J.B. Shayne. The two wrote and performed on the irreverent Hollywood North Report which ran for three years before the station moved over to a new format.
Including frequent appearances on GlobalTV, as well as on CTV News and CBC Radio, Mike also writes a political column for 24 Hours Vancouver. "It's a great opportunity to be working with an old friend and at a great new station," says Mike. "Getting to combine the fun of radio at The Shore and my interest in talking about politics feels like a real treat for me."
Shore 104 FM is a station managed by Roy Hennessy, yet another Vancouver radio legend. Back in the '70s Hennessey was the archetypal AM music station morning show host at CKLG 730. Kids would call in and sing the "H-E-DOUBLE-N-E-DOUBLE-S-Y" jingle as they would request a song.
You can catch Steve and Colleen weekdays between 6AM and 10AM as they combine the unique blend of Shore 104.3 FM music and programming with a number of daily features about fitness, lifestyle, and now politics that they hope will help get your day off to a great start.
Well done, Mike!
