Who will be the first civic politician to make it on the new PRblunders.com top ten list?
I recently got an email from Wayne Hartrick, Chief Reputation Officer, Reputations Corporation, regarding a very interesting blog he's developed. Wayne is a good friend and when he told me a while back that he was planning to develop a new PR blunders blog, I thought it was a great idea. I'm pleased to report that prblunders.com has now gone live. There aren't alot of municipal politicians who've made it onto the top ten list yet, but I suspect it will only be a matter of time before that happens.
The basic concept of the blog is to expose media blunders by some of our most well known celebrities, athletes and politicians and analyze how they goofed up. Here is what Hartrick has to say about his blog:
This blog presents the worst PR blunders - political scandal, celebrity missteps, corporate foolishness – they blunder, we bust them! Our panel of experts dissect the PR Blunders – showing where they went wrong and how the PR disasters could have be avoided.
Hartrick is encouraging all of us to blog in and nominate someone we think has goofed up in order that it can make it onto the blog's shortlist.
One of the recent blunders the PR analysts dissect is the delivery of body bags to an aboriginal community in Northern Manitoba in response to the H1N1 virus. They also have some interesting analysis on everything from the chicken industry's goof-ups to Kanye West's disastrous performance at the recent MTV awards.
I'm confident that over the coming months we will be able to make a few nominations via this blog to Hartricks's PR blunder list. If you have any suggestions, just drop us a line. This blog is a must read for anybody in the communications industry or aspiring to make it into the public eye one day. Good luck with the new blog Wayne!
