It what has to count as one of the oddest footnotes on the Judy Rogers firing, we now have Exhibit A, the mayor's Twitter feed and what was on his mind before hitting the sack last night.
He can't wait to bike in the snow.
The above screen capture of Gregor Robertson's Twitter posts (or "tweets") during and after the autumn election campaign, show Vancouver's new mayor in a state of bliss over the prospect of the city's first dump of the white stuff. The above screen is from 2pm today, or about 5 hours past the in-camera meeting where council approved the firing of the City Manager. Gregor's "snow" tweet is from midnight last night.
You'd think that a leader behind one of the most substantial decisions by a local elected government in years might demonstrate a little gravitas. Gregor's tweets on the other hand show almost a childlike manner in his approach to leading the city and his political team.
For example, here are a few great quotes:
Sure had fun at our Vision team party. We're good at the party thing.
Just minutes from going live on cbc. Stoked.
Can't decide which is more fun, Translink Mayors Council or Vancouver Police Board. Had the doubleheader today.
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad the mayor is having fun in his job. Maybe someone should buy him a kitten.
