Before this morning's in-camera meeting Vancouver Councillor Suzanne Anton released to the media that she had no idea what the meeting was about, and that a "veil of secrecy" is falling over the city's affairs.
She correctly speculated that the meeting was to deal with the fate of City Manager Judy Rogers, who was fired this morning.
“Gregor Robertson has been Mayor for just five days and already there’s a veil of secrecy around City Hall,” says Anton. “Not to be told why we’re having an in-camera meeting is offensive, particularly when you’ve been elected by Vancouverites to represent them. During the election campaign he was all about transparency, now we’re meeting in-camera and no one will say why. This is no way to run a city, but I’m really afraid it’s a sign of things to come.”
